Day 6

Day 6 began with a drive to an amazing and mysterious place called Wadi Rum (Rum Valley). Wadi Rum is famous thanks to T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) a British archeologist turned guerilla leader who lived amongst the Arabs of Wadi Rum around the time of World War 1 orchestrating attacks on the Turkish Army. We rode in jeeps out into the desert to get a closer look at the incredible mountains that rise up out of the sand. Charlie and Nick both had a camel ride there, with Nick’s ride ending in a fall from the camel. This great moment was unfortunately missed by the video recorder (Dad). From Wadi Rum we drove to Aqaba and a tedious border crossing into Israel. It was sad to say goodbye to Maha, our wonderful Jordanian guide, but good to rendezvous with Jack, our Palestinian Christian Guide, on the other side of the border. First stop was the Dead Sea, and an opportunity to experience the weird sensation of floating in the water, thanks to the high levels of salt. Amazing!

  1. I like how you used the adjectives to describe the funny part. Calvin. Can you actually walk on the dead sea??? or do you float?? James & Nick. Do you think there are any sea animals in the dead sea? or are they dead. Sam and Kendall. I hope you haven't been hurt, yet!!?! and hope you're having fun. Madison. We would like to find out how the dead sea got its name. Calvin
